SERGEANT FIRST CLASS LARRY DAVIS

Sergeant First Class Davis retired from active duty with the United States Army on 31 January 2013.  Since that time, he has taught as a JROTC Army Instructor at the Kenton County Military Preparatory Academy in Edgewood, KY for three years and two years at the Diamond Oaks Career Campus in Cincinnati, OH. Sergeant First Class Larry Davis currently resides in Burlington, Kentucky with his wife, Angela and daughters, Jennifer Davis and Allison Davis. His hobbies include fishing, carpentry and landscaping.

Sergeant First Class Davis entered the Army on 7 October 1992, where completed Basic and Armor Advanced Individual Training at Fort Knox, KY.  Throughout his 23-year career, Sergeant First Class Davis has served in a number of enlisted leadership positions from Squad Leader to Truckmaster in the following units; 

  • Transportation and Movement Control Supervisor, A-Company, 703rd Brigade Support Battalion 4th Infantry Brigade, Fort Stewart, Georgia, 
  • Transportation and Movement Control Supervisor, 529th Regimental Support Company, 4th Battalion, 3rd Infantry Regiment, (The Old Guard),  
  • Transportation Platoon Sergeant, 529th Regimental Support Company, 4th Battalion, 3rd Infantry Regiment, (The Old Guard),  
  • Pentagon, U.S. Army Transportation Agency (White House) Washington, D.C.,
  • Assistant Truckmaster, 70th Transportation Company, 28 Transportation Battalion Mannheim, Germany, 
  • Platoon Sergeant, 494th Transportation Company, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Fort Campbell, Kentucky, 
  • Master Driver Instructor, Headquarters Company, 703rd Main Support Battalion Camp Casey, South Korea,  
  • Squad Leader, B-Company, 801st Main Support Battalion, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Fort Campbell, Kentucky,

His military education includes the Advanced Noncommissioned Officer's Course (Honor Graduate), Anti-Terrorism Officers Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officer's Course, Unit Movement Officer's Deployment Planner’s Course, United States Air Force Airlift Planner’s Course, Warriors Leader’s Course, Air Assault Course, and the Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Officer’s Course. 

His civilian education includes a Bachelors Degree in History from Excelsior University, Albany, NY, an Associate degree in Criminal Justice from Grantham University, Kansas City, Missouri. Graduate of the Law Enforcement Training Course at Robeson Community College, Lumberton, North Carolina.  


His awards and decorations include two Meritorious Service Medals, five Army Commendation Medals, eight Army Achievement Medals, seven Army Good Conduct Medals, two National Defense Service Medals, Korean Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, Iraq Campaign Medal with arrow head, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, three Overseas Service Ribbons, the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Air Assault Badge and Driver’s Safety Badge for wheeled and tracked vehicles.  Additionally, SFC Davis is an inductee and recipient of the Transportation Corps Order of Saint Christopher Medallion.
