Welcome to the beginning of the 2017-2018 school year.  I am Jennifer Wallace your child’s Physical Education Teacher.  I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree from Berea College in Berea, Kentucky with a major in Physical Education and a minor in Health, and I received my Master’s Degree from Emporia State University in Physical Education, Health, Recreation and Dance.  I have been teaching Physical Education for 20 years, the last 16 years at Mt. Orab Elementary.

We will be covering many different activities and skills this year in Physical Education.  The lessons I have planned are aligned with the state and national physical education standards.  We will work on locomotor skills, hand eye coordination, agility, speed, flexibility, strength, endurance, sportsmanship, teamwork, how to treat others in a social setting, and much more.

Please have your child prepared for Physical Education class with the appropriate clothes and especially gym shoes.  Students will not be allowed to remove their shoes in class for safety reasons.  If your child is wearing shoes that make it dangerous to participate they will not join the activity and miss out on learning and exercise.  This will also lower their grade because much of their grade depends on their level of quality participation.  If your child does not own gym shoes or something like a gym shoes please let me know. 

If a student has an illness or injury that keeps them from full participation in class please send me a note so we can do what is best for your child.  I would also like for you to send me a note with any health conditions or issues you feel I should know about your child to provide the safest most beneficial Physical Education experience for each individual child.

If you don’t want a picture of your child published in the newspaper or social media for special achievements in physical education please sign the bottom of the newsletter and return it to me ASAP.
