The Role We Play
The Role We Play In Preparing Students for “The Real World”
“Disappointment is the gap that exists between expectation and reality.” This is a quote from one of my favorite authors, John Maxwell. As high school graduation is right around the corner the thought that weighs heavily on my heart is, “Are our students ready for the reality of the real world?” They have spent the last 12-13 years of their life in school. This experience is supposed to have them ready to go out into society with the skills to successfully begin an employment career or further their educational endeavors. Are they ready? Do we as a society allow for them to be ready? What can be done to close the skills gap?

WB Reduction Update
Thank you for taking time to look at Western Brown’s website. We have attempted to do our very best to keep everyone up-to-date with the state of our schools. The hot topic this quarter has been the budgetary reductions. Western Brown Local Schools is responsible for operating a 30 million dollar annual budget. 80% of the budget goes toward paying salaries and benefits ($24 million dollars). The remaining costs are the intangibles such as heating and air, equipment, supplies, maintenance of the buildings, grounds and transportation. Click on the Treasurer’s link to see more specific expenditure and revenue details. If you have specific questions, contact the Mr. Dunlap, Treasurer, or myself. We will be more than happy to meet with groups or individuals upon request.
