Our 1st inductee is Ms. Samantha Rhodes:

Samantha is a 2008 graduate of Western Brown HS.  Sam was a standout runner for the Broncos! She earned SBC 1st team honors in track and cross country during all four years that she competed in high school.  Sam was a member of the 4X800M relay team that still holds the SBC record set in 2008 with a time of 10:00.83.  Samantha qualified for the Division II Regional Cross Country meet in 2004, 2005 and 2006 and the Division I Regional Track meet in the 4X800M run and 3200M run in 2005 and 2008.  Samantha continued her education at the University of Cincinnati where she ran cross country and track. She competed in the 3000M steeplechase while participating in track and was a Big East qualifier in the 6K event in Cross Country.

Ms. Rhodes is the daughter of Brian and Sandy Rhodes.  Samantha recently completed her Peace Corps Service in Ethopia, where she taught English to 9th and 10th graders at Bale (pronounced ball-a) Goba Secondary School.  Before this mission, Samantha completed a stint in the AmeriCorps State position in Montana where she worked with the US Forestry Service.

Our next inductee is Mr. Ryan Hopkins:

Ryan is a 2009 graduate of Western Brown High School.  Ryan excelled in baseball and football. Ryan was a 3 year letterman for the Broncos football team and a member of the 10-0 team that was the first squad in school history to qualify for the OHSAA state football playoffs.  Ryan was selected to the SBC 1st team as a senior linebacker for the brown and gold.  Mr. Hopkins was also selected to the Cincinnati Enquirer ALL CITY team and the Southwest Division II 1st Team and that same year was selected ALL OHIO Honorable Mention.

Ryan was also a 3 year letterman in baseball where he was a 2nd team SBC selection in 2008 and SBC 1st team in 2009.  Ryan was also selected to the Mizuno series All Ohio team.  Ryan moved on to Division I Tennessee Tech in 2010 and played baseball for one season before transferring to Marshall University where he played for the Thundering Herd from 2012-2014.  During that time Ryan finished 10th all-time in appearances and 9th all- time in saves as a stand out pitcher for the Herd!  Ryan currently works as an Environmental consultant.

Our Next inductee is Ms. Megan Wright:

Megan is a 2009 graduate of Western Brown High School.  Megan excelled in the sports of Cross County and Track where she was a SBC 1st Team All Star in both sports all four years of high school.  She also qualified for the regionals in Cross Country in 2006, 2007 and 2008.  Megan was the first female athlete to qualify for the OHSAA state cross country meet in 2006 and also in track in 2008 in the 1600M run.  Megan broke school records in the 800M run, the 4X800 relay and the 4X400 relay. Megan also competed in the Indoor Track team and qualified for the state meet in the 1600M run in 2008 and 2009.

Ms. Wright went on to the University of Kentucky where she ran cross country, track and indoor track from 2010-2013.  She was all South Eastern Conference on the Distance Medley Relay Team in 2012 while competing on the Indoor Track team.  Megan won SEC All Academic honors all 4 years at UK. She was nominated for the UK Catspy Award, based on the hardest working athlete!  Megan continued to compete during her post graduate years at Queens University of Charlotte in 2013 and 2014. Megan was the South Atlantic Conference Cross Country Champion in 2014, the SAC Runner of the Year and a NCAA National Qualifier.  Megan is currently a para professional in the West Clermont school district, while she pursues a career in Special Education. Megan has also been active in coaching at Queens University, Lafayette HS, Cincinnati Christian and currently at Goshen HS.  Megan is the daughter of Dennis and Jessica Wright and is engaged to Peter Francus with a 2017 June wedding in the plans!

Our next inductee is Mr. Greg Liming:

Mr. Liming is a 2009 graduate of Western Brown High School.  Greg was a two sport standout in baseball and basketball for the Broncos.  He lettered 2 years in basketball and started on the 2008-09 SBC championship team, where he was selected to the SBC 2nd team.  Mr. Liming was a 3 year letterman in baseball, earning SBC 2nd team honors in 2008 and was an SBC 1st team all-star and the SBC American Division Player of the Year in 2009.  Greg was named to the Division I Cincinnati Enquirer All City 1st Team and earned ALL OHIO 2nd team honors during his outstanding senior season!  Greg had an exceptional career for the brown and gold, with a .397 career batting average.  He holds several records including homeruns in a season (14), homeruns in a career (21), RBI’s in a season (43) and runs scored in a season (37).  Greg moved on to Urbana University and either played in or started every game of his 4 year career! Greg received the Blue Knight Award in 2010. He was also named the Defensive Player of the Year in 2013.  He was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week 5 different times and finished with a career .295 batting average. He currently holds career records for the Blue Knights in most walks, put outs and fielding chances.  Greg ranks in the top ten in career at bats, RBI’s, doubles, homeruns, hits and games played. Mr. Liming also played in the Mountain Collegiate League and the Ohio Valley League. Greg graduated from Urbana University with an Exercise Science degree and currently works for Clermont County Distributing Company.  Greg is married to his high school sweetheart, Lindsey and they have one son Jackson. Greg would like to thank the WBHS Athletic Dept. for this opportunity and his mom and dad, Bob and June Liming for all of their support!

Our next inductee is Mrs. Shelby Kelley-Mardis:


Shelby graduated from Western Brown HS in 2009.  Shelby lettered in volleyball in 2007 and 2008 and played on two SBC championship teams.  She earned SBC American Division 2nd team honors her senior season.  Although an excellent volleyball player, softball is the sport that she dominated for four years.  Shelby lettered all four years, earning SBC 2nd team honors her freshmen season.  She was selected to the SBC American Division 1st team in 2007, 2008 and 2009, and was a 2 time SBC American Division Player of the Year in her junior and senior seasons.  Shelby was selected to the Cincinnati Enquirer All City Honorable Mention team her sophomore year, the Cincinnati Enquirer All City 1st Team her junior year and was the Division II Enquirer Player of the Year her senior season in 2009.  Shelby was selected to the Southwest District Division II 1st Team and All Ohio 2nd team during her outstanding senior season!  Shelby was voted the 2009 Western Brown HS Female Athlete of the Year!  Shelby was also awarded the 2009 Radio Shack Athlete of the Year Award. During her career, she helped lead her teams to two SBC American Division softball titles, 3 Division II Southwest District Sectional titles and two Division II Southwest District Championships in 2008 and 2009.  In 2009, Shelby dominated the mound and helped lead the Broncos to a 28-2 record, the Ohio High School Softball Coaches Association Final #1 ranking in the Division II poll and an OHSAA Regional berth, where they lost a heartbreaking 1-0 game to the eventual state champion Ross Rams in extra innings.  Shelby’s name is all over the WBHS record boards, where she still holds 10 records, including all-time career wins (66) and all-time career strikeouts (554). Shelby went on to play at Southern State University, where she was selected to the OCAC 1st Team and was the OCAC Player of the Year both seasons.  Shelby is a registered nurse at Crossroads Hospice and is married to WB graduate Jeff Mardis.  They have one daughter Ellie and another one coming any day!!

Our next inductee is Mr. Shawn Davis:

Shawn is another 2009 graduate of Western Brown High School.  Shawn re-wrote the Western Brown record books during his high school football career!  Shawn currently holds 6 school records as a Bronco, including 2,084 rushing yards in a single season, 3,400 career rushing yards, the single game rushing record of 321 yards vs Blanchester on 9/5/08,  most points scored in a game (33), most points scored in a season (196) and most points scored in a career (315). Shawn was voted as the MVP twice for the Broncos and was selected as an SBC American Division 1st Team All Star in 2007 and 2008.  Mr. Davis was the SBC American Division Player of the Year during his senior season.  Shawn was also selected to the Cincinnati Enquirer and Southwest District Honorable Mention teams in Division II.  Shawn took his talents to William Penn University in Iowa, where he had an outstanding career for the Statesmen. He ranks 3rd in rushing attempts, 2nd in career rushing yards with 3,150, 5th in career rushing TD’s with 33, 10th in most rushing attempts in a season with 194 and 10th in most individual rushing yards in a season with 1,044.  Shawn won the Knockdown Award in 2011, was the Statesmen’s Offensive MVP in 2010 and 2011 and was the recipient of the William Penn Blue and Gold Award in 2011 and 2013.

Our final inductee of the evening is Mr. Tyler Morgan:

Tyler is a 2009 graduate of Western Brown High School.  Tyler was a standout athlete in basketball and track for the Broncos.  Tyler was a 4 times SBC Discus Champion in track and was the Division I Southwest District Discus Champion 3 times.  Tyler also played football 2 years and golf 2 years for the brown and gold. For all the success he had in other sports, the hardwood is where Tyler excelled.  He was a 3 year letterman, earning SBC 2nd team honors in 2007 and was selected to the SBC 1st team in 2008 and 2009.  He was voted the SBC American Division Player of the Year in 2009. Mr. Morgan was also selected to the Division I District 16 2nd team and also Southwest District Honorable Mention in Division I.  Tyler was voted twice to the Brown County Holiday Tournament All Tourney Team.  Tyler holds 5 WBHS basketball records in career rebounds, season rebounds, season scoring, season FG% and career FG %.  He also finished his career with 1,072 points. Tyler wrapped up his career at WBHS by earning the Male Athlete of the Year Award.  Tyler went on to Shawnee State University, where he became one of the greatest basketball players to ever wear a Bears uniform. He was the American Midwest Conference Freshmen of the Year and 2nd team all AMC in 2010.  The AMC changed to the Mid-South Conference but Tyler didn’t miss a beat earning all MSC in 2012 and MSC 1st Team in 2013.  Tyler also earned NAIA Division I All American Honorable Mention honors the same year.  He was NAIA Player of the Week 5 times and was National Player of the Week once. Tyler finished his career as the Bears all-time leading scorer with 1,779 points, all-time leading rebounder with 1,072 boards, all-time career FG’s made with 638, all-time career Free-throw’s made with 445, 1st in all-time career Free throw attempts with 708, 1st in career offensive rebounds with 366 and 1st in all time defensive rebounds with 706!  Tyler has a degree in Computer Engineering and works at Pyramid Controls as a soft wear engineer.
