In the 21stCentury students will be introduced to new ways of living, thinking and working. This requires a shift in the methodologies we use at school to develop the 21st Century mindset. The school’s responsibility is to foster the growth of each student in a safe and secure learning environment so they are prepared to prosper in the Information Age. For these reasons, we at Mt. Orab Elementary have developed a three-part Vision.
First and foremost, each student who passes through our doors must learn to read, using any strategy that works for them. This is paramount for competing in the Information Age. We will dedicate time and resources to manifest individualized instruction, using research based reading strategies and assessments to systematically track the growth and development of our young readers. Classroom interventions will be introduced for those students who are reading below grade level to boost their performance. For those students who are more than two grade levels behind, more intense interventions, that may include peer mentoring, will be introduced through the IAT and MTSS Processes.
Our staff is trained to work with each other wthin their grade level and teachers from other grade levels to focus on curriculum, instruction and assessment of the students who attend our school. By creating a team approach to doing business, we will focus on individualizing the educational endeavors of our students and using data to help us make instructional decisions that move each student forward.
Finally, we continually strive to update the technology in our building. In our ever changing society, efficient and effective technology will enable our students to access information at a more rapid pace and build their capacity to compete with peers and contemporaries in the future workforce.
